Can your blog/website be greener and better for the environment?  It is possible.  Of course it is.  If you use WordPress try the plug-in created by Online Leaf.  What this plug-in does is it generates a blackish background when visitors become inactive on your blog -   much in the same fashion that power/energy saving mode works on your monitor.  This green standby mode can be re-activated by moving your mouse onto the web page.  By using this plug-in your vistors will consume less power for their monitors.  The plug-in is available from WordPress via their download section or automatic loading via the WordPress administration console.

The iPhone 4 hits Canada officially today and with new FREEDOM.  As with all freedom it comes at a cost, the NEW unlocked phone will run between $650 and $800 dollars.  The first benefit is, if your provider makes you mad…  you can walk away.  Don’t forget that US customers have been complaining that their calls are being dropped when the phone is held a certain way.  I realize that Apple is giving away free rubber cases that will improve reception, but they should have corrected the design issue first.  It’s the price you pay for having the latest technology.

Is Apple borderline slanderous this time?  I think that Apple crossed the line when they attempted to address their iPhone 4 Death Grip issue. How so??  They shifted the focus from themselves by claiming that other manufacturers such as RIM, HTC, Samsung and Noika were having the same problem. I fail to understand their point.  It’s their phone design, not holding a phone tightly that is the issue.  RIM has 20 plus years of reliable wireless service even in low coverage areas. It’s time that the folks at Apple grow up and realize that their bad design issues can’t be cleared by lashing out at other people’s products. And, oh yes, giving iPhone 4 users free cases was a nice gesture, but doesn’t the case defeat the purpose of owning the slimmest smartphone?  Just my two cents.

Microsoft is giving away 90,000+ Windows Phone 7 devices!  Yes, it’s true.  If you are a Microsoft employee, you are getting one.  While this will cost Microsoft, they are really trying to make their employees evangelists.  Why?? Because NOBODY likes using a buggy device – even if it is bleeding-edge technology.  Also, by providing all Microsoft employees with the phone they will be able to report that 90K+ people are using it.  While I haven’t tried one myself, I’ve heard it’s a usable device.  Need another tester Microsoft?

What is the smartphone of choice?  So far, it’s RIM’s Backberry with a reported market share of 41.7 percent, followed by Apple with 24.4 percent and Microsoft with 13.2 percent.  With Google and Palm rounding out the top 5, but expect that to change.  Google’s Android is picking up speed and with 57% of their applications being free, it’s just a matter of time before it’s in the top 3.

Be careful how you update your Adoble Flash.  This warning comes after the discovery of a compromised website offering Adoble Flash updates to anybody.  If the update is downloaded and run, you are left with an extremely nasty piece of malware that has been identified as Downloader.CEW.f. Once installed, it will download and install MORE scamware and spyware programs. What should you watch for?  The version number is the biggest tip-off, it’s version 11 and the latest version available from adoble for their flash player is 10.1.
