Connecting two monitors to a laptop is pretty easy for most people, but what if you needed a third or maybe a second monitor for your desktop computer.      The horror stories aren’t so much about the moving of the monitors, but the video card issues.   Wouldn’t it just be be easier to move another PC (and monitor) closer to your work area and be done with it?

Well, there is a solution out there for you.  Synergy supports Windows and Linux platforms.  It’s easy to install and it’s free.  With Synergy, you are able to, with great ease,   share one mouse and keyboard between many computer with different operating systems that have their own monitors.

One of the beautiful things about Synergy is its ability to merge clipboards from all the systems.  This solves the issue of grabbing some text from one computer and using another.

Another plus, the screen savers are not only synced to start and stop at the same time, but you only have to key in one password.

Synergy is perfect for designers, developers and just about any one who needs two or more monitors or greater productivity on the job.

Synergy can be downloaded by clicking on this link.

I’ve found some cool productivity tools that you would be nuts not to use. After all, who doesn’t like using tools that can save them time and money?

Want to inject your personality or flare into your Windows Desktop and be organized? Then BumpTop is for you. This will change your desktop for the better. With Bumptop you are able to sort, stack and move folders, files and pictures just like you would a real physical desktop. This is a must have tool to customize and visualize your desktop while organizing it. Bumptop takes advantage of the new features Windows 7 has to offer.

Next Alltop. Ever need to find a magazine or some other article that isn’t quickly at hand? Alltop.com is your solution. I always find the articles and magazines I search for everytime. I prefer it over walking out to my local newsstand. Try it today.

VMWare has a number of free applications that can save you time and money. VMServer and ESXi. The advantage of both these tools can’t be over stated. Not only can you use them to virutalize old servers(Virtualization lets a single physical resource appear as multiple logical resources) that still serve a purpose, but you can virtual ex-employees PCs and laptop… making them easier to access if needed. VMServer is pretty user friendly, but the ESXi may require the use of a professional for the inital setup.

G4u is a open source version of Ghost. Basically you can make a copy of a PC, laptop or Server. The images created can be restored to the original computer or virutalized within an hour or so. It could even be used as a form of backup.

And finally, there are the tools from xtremelabs. Extreme labs has a number of free tools for your Blackberryand iPhone. I love the speed test myself, as I can see if it’s my lack of patience or just a bad connection based on my location. So far, it’s been the location and not my lack of patience :)
